Sailfish Series to Offer $2,000,000 Purse!

Quest for the Crest Champions JacketThe highly acclaimed Quest for the Crest Sailfish Series kicks off its 2nd year in December!  With an anticipated purse of more than $2 million dollars, the competition will be fierce.  Money aside, the main motivation for teams in the Quest is to earn the right to don the most iconic emblem on the Sailfish circuit - the Quest for the Crest Jacket. Team Blue Time claimed the honor in the inaugural series last year and earned their title as the ‘world’s best’sailfishing team for the 2012/13 season.

New for this season, a 4th event has been added to the series in April and a new TV show called Wild Billz is being produced in association with the Quest for the Crest.

If you love premier events and premier fishing, then make sure you mark your calendar for these 4 amazing tournaments.  The Quest begins on December 11th!
Operation Sailfish

Leg 1 - Operation Sailfish
December 11-15th, 2013  West Palm Beach, FL
www.operationsailfish.com

Hosted out of Sailfish Marina on Singer Island, Operation Sailfish is a patriotic two-day battle against Sailfish on the high seas.  In addition to an estimated $500,000 purse, teams will be competing for jewelry style dog tags compliments of Altier Jewelers. In 2012, team Advanced Roofing won the battle, claimed the sought after dog tags and took home a check for $172,625.00! Operation Sailfish is infused with military undertones to honor the men and women fighting for our country.
Sailfish Challenge

Leg 2 - Sailfish Challenge

The largest Sailfish tournament in the country, the Sailfish Challenge attracts over 500 anglers for this one-day tournament.  The kickoff is hosted at the IGFA Hall of Fame Museum, the Taj Mahal of Sportfishing. The Sailfish Challenge follows a three-inlet format where teams can check out of Lake Worth Inlet in West Palm, Hillsboro Inlet in Pompano Beach or Government Cut in Miami. Miss Annie claimed the largest payout in the 2013 event with a check for $196,870.00!
Jimmy Johnson's National Billfish Championship

Leg 3 - Jimmy Johnson’s National Billfish Championship:
March 5-8th, 2014   Key Largo, FL
www.jjnbc.com

Great parties, celebrity appearances and exciting fishing action all await the teams that take the trip to Key Largo for the 3rd leg of the Quest for the Crest. Jimmy Johnson’s National Billfish Championship is a two-day battle in the pristine waters of the Florida Keys. The estimated purse is over $500,000 and the top team can win Jimmy’s National Billfish Championship rings. Team 4 Aces showed they had the stuff that champions are made of at the 2013 event earlier this year.  They took first place to claim the rings and a payout of $123,175.00!
Final Sail

Leg 4 - Final Sail
April 9-12th, 2014   Miami, FL
www.finalsail.com

The newest tournament added to the Quest for the Crest will most definitely be a ‘grand finale’.  Final Sail is the last leg in the Quest Series and will be hosted at the DoubleTree Grand by Hilton on Biscayne Bay. Of course, as the last stop for the series, the Final Sail will also be the crowning event for a world champion as yet another team dons the Quest for the Crest Jacket and joins the ranks of the most dominant sailfishing teams on the planet!

With its participant-focused, environmentally friendly format, the tournament provides the best angler amenities, payback of entry fees, and enforces the use of non-offset circle hooks when live-bait fishing, which ensures the best survival rate of the released fish. The LCBT was also the first tournament in Cabo to use cameras and technology to score billfish releases, leading to large cash purses for letting billfish go. The tournament was the first to introduce a live online scorekeeper in Cabo, allowing participants and fans from all over the world to access what happens on the water and at the weigh scales. Now in its 15th year, the Los Cabos Billfish Tournament continues to be a team effort between the Los Cabos Tourism Board, the crew at Marlin and Sport Fishing magazines and the many great sponsors that make the tournament special.
