Cable Wind Ons Tournament Cable is the ONLY tackle company producing Cable Wind-on Leaders. We have been making them by hand now for ten years and in the same manor as our mono Wind-on Leaders. Some additional steps are used in the process but the end result is the same. The Finest Wind-on Leader you can use.In the begining Cable wind-ons were used by those fishing for sharks. Recently though some other pratical uses have started to take hold as more and more fisherman are getting used to wind-ons in general. With this increased interest from a wide variety of fishermen we have expanded our product line to fit almost every situation. Whether your trolling for White Marlin and Dolphin, fishing for King Mackerel, live baiting for Sails, fast trolling for Wahoo or hunting the largest of Sharks. Chunking, trolling baits and lures, kite fishing or surf casting, there is a Cable Wind-on that is a perfect fit to your terminal tackle. Cable Wind-ons are available in a large range of sizes (26lb. to 920lb. test) and two types of cable in both bright and camo brown. Hi-Vis Dacron for the splice may also be ordered. American Fishing Wire Micro-Supreme is used for 26lb. test thru 90lb. test. This cable is so flexible it will not take any action away from a live bait and can be tied or crimped. Each wind-on is 16.5' in length and is perfect for Surf casting, live baiting and trolling. Roller guides are not required in the lighter pound test wind-ons. 49 Strand camo brown is standard stock cable used on all other cable wind-ons from 175lb. to 920lb. test. These are all 25' in length and are used when Sharking or trolling baits and lures. Trolled baits will run deeper and track straighter. ROLLER GUIDES MUST BE USED WITH THESE CABLE WIND-ONS. Cable Wind-ons will have no effect on roller guides but will eat thru a ring guide in a very short time. Wahoo Wind-ons are made using 600lb. test 49 Strand camo brown. They come in two choices. Both are 25' in length and come with a 300lb. Momoi Hi-Catch ball bearing swivel crimped to the end. They can be ordered with or without a trolling lead molded as part of the cable. The lead molded with the cable thru the center eliminates additional hardware and leaves cable on both sides of the weight. This will eliminate lost Wahoo because of strikes at the trolling weight. Tuna Traps using Butterfish

Lay the Tuna Trap on the Butterfish to get an idea where it will sit once inside the bait.

With a sharp bait knife cut the Butterfish just behind the Trap. Cut all the way thru the bait so you have a so-called chunk.

Insert the bait knife into the Butterfish. Keep the knife on only one side of the backbone and form a small pocket for the Trap to rest in. You do not have to remove any entrails just make a slit.

With an open eye needle enter the bait at the slit and push it thru until it comes out of the mouth.

Wrap or tie the line from your rod & reel to the needle and pull the line back thru the bait and out the slit. Tie or crimp the end of the line to the ring on the trap. Note: if you have a leader attached to the Tuna Trap insert the needle in the mouth and come out the slit. Attach the needle to the end of the leader and pull it thru and out the mouth.

Pull the line or leader from the mouth and start to pull the Trap into the bait.

When the trap reaches the bait you will have to help or push the trap into the slit. Push the trap and pull on the leader until the trap is completely hidden in the bait.

If you want to use a whole Butterfish there is one difference in the rigging. Instead of cutting the bait all the way thru just cut a slit in one side of the Butterfish. Do not go all the way thru. Everything is then done the same as described above.
